5 Questions With Arthrex GmbH Senior Manager for Imaging and Resection Jan Turowski

As GmbH’s Senior Manager for Imaging and Resection (I&R) on the Technical Services and Logistics team, Jan Turowski is responsible for making sure Arthrex’s capital equipment and I&R products in EMEA, specifically the endoscopy towers and the integrated OR services, are properly maintained and serviced for customers who need to use them. This role requires a lot of planning and flexibility to ensure Arthrex’s customers can always use the equipment in its top condition.

Jan has been with Arthrex for 14 years and, naturally, his favorite Arthrex products are the SynergyHD3™ surgical video system, the SynergyUHD4™ imaging system and the SynergyID™ visualization system for their groundbreaking technology.

“Arthrex has revolutionized the market for camera systems with the first 3-in-1 camera system setup,” he said.

How do you impact our mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better® through your role? 

When a customer encounters a problem or has a short-term issue, my team offers them a solution. Our business is dependent on what is happening with our customers. This often makes each day challenging, but it makes things very interesting as well. It’s our goal to be recognized as the best service provider in medical devices. We support our mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better by providing top-notch service to our customers.

What inspires you the most at Arthrex?

There are many things that inspire me at Arthrex. I really enjoy communicating globally with a wide variety of people and working together to move things forward. It’s great to see how we develop as a team every day and to see how we get better at what we do.

We have retained our hands-on approach despite our enormous growth over the past decade, and I feel a lot of positive energy from my team and the others that we work closely with each day. This is the best basis for working successfully and constantly experiencing personal development.

While it often gets stressful when we get last-minute requests, being able to solve these problems to the customer’s satisfaction motivates me. Being better and faster than our competitors is a good feeling.

What is your favorite success story at Arthrex?

During my time at Arthrex, I was able to observe an incredible number of success stories. I don’t want to single any one instance out, but I am impressed by the consistency with which we strive for success as a team.

I love to see when we solve a problem on the same day that it arises so that a customer’s operating theater can continue to run without restrictions. The many steps we take in the background and the many different people who coordinate things, move goods and install or assemble goods make these situations successful. These many small successes are only possible because we have a great atmosphere at Arthrex, and our team is committed to helpings surgeons and their patients.

How do you describe the Arthrex culture? 

I’m convinced you can only be really good at something if you enjoy doing it. I always feel comfortable whenever I visit an Arthrex location. Arthrex creates the environment that allows people to feel that comfort, and this is how it creates the basis for success.

I think the answers to the previous questions also show how we work here and what it is that makes it so special.

Our core value is Making People Better. How has Arthrex made you better?

I think Arthrex does so much for its employees. There are a lot of training opportunities, which have given me the chance for personal development, but if I had to name one thing that has made me better, it would be that working at Arthrex has given me confidence.

For me, this has always been the most important thing. During my time at Arthrex, I always have the feeling that my supervisors trust in my work and have my back. I am convinced that a positive environment provides the best conditions for personal development, and that’s very true here at Arthrex.
