Surgeon Performs Nebraska’s First-Ever Endoscopic Spine Procedure with Arthrex Technology

Matthew Miller, MD, recently completed the first ultra-minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery in the state of Nebraska at OrthoNebraska Hospital.

Dr. Miller performed a L5-S1 discectomy with an interlaminar approach using the Arthrex working channel endoscope and 4K Synergy Vision™ imaging system.

"[The endoscopic approach] enables the next level of minimally invasive spine surgery,” Dr. Miller said. “The technology allows us to make an incision smaller than a centimeter, essentially eliminating the need for muscle and soft tissue dissection. There is less bone removal needed with this technology. These two components lead to decreased postoperative pain and speed up recovery."
