Arthrex President and Founder Reinhold Schmieding Interviewed for American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society Podcast

Arthrex President and Founder Reinhold Schmieding was recently interviewed by Arthrex faculty surgeon Brian Waterman, MD (Wake Forest, NC), for the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) Society podcast.

ASES is an organization that seeks to foster and advance the science and practice of shoulder and elbow care and its membership, which is by invitation only, consists of more than 1500 leading national and international orthopedic surgeons specializing in surgery of the shoulder and elbow.

During the podcast, Reinhold discusses Arthrex’s origins, its mission and the future of arthroscopy and shoulder and elbow care for surgeons and patients. Dr. Waterman also asks Reinhold about Arthrex’s commitment to medical education.

“You need to create a safe and ethical environment for surgeons to practice their skills without having to experiment on their patients. That is an ethical and moral responsibility,” he said. “We have over 100 surgical labs around the world and this year, we plan to service more than 100,000 surgeons. We’re very proud of our contribution to medical education and surgical skills education.”

Reinhold also discusses the future of medicine and operating rooms, with Arthrex’s ASC X program and 3D Anatomy, as well as Arthrex’s upper extremities and shoulder arthroplasty portfolios and future innovations that advance minimally invasive surgery.
