The Arthrex Women’s Network (AWN) recently hosted its second annual Swap & Shop event, with proceeds once again benefitting The Shelter for Abused Women & Children.
The idea of “swapping” wardrobe pieces stemmed from a conversation between AX Ambassador Maddie Havemeier and AX Senior Marketing Specialist Kathryn Wijdicks.
“We were chatting about how we were tired of our wardrobes,” Maddie said, “and how it would be nice to exchange good quality work clothes with other women at Arthrex who also wanted to change up their work outfits. We brought the idea to Corporate Engagement Supervisor Meg Hardt and Corporate Engagement Specialist Lisa Halpin, and they helped bring the concept to life, involving the Arthrex Women’s Network and turning it into an event to benefit a local nonprofit.”
The first Swap & Shop event was held in November 2023, raising $3,000 for The Shelter.
“We had a goal of doubling that amount this year,” Meg said, “which we accomplished with the help of a few generous donations.”
This year’s event was once again held at the Arthrex Wellness Center, with Culinary providing refreshments the first evening of the sale.
“We had a lot of high-quality donations in a range of sizes and styles,” Maddie said. “And what didn’t sell, we donated to The Shelter’s thrift store, The Shelter’s Options Shoppe, so they could still benefit from those donations.”
“Attending the Swap & Shop event was not only a fun and exciting experience, but it also supported a worthwhile cause,” said Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist Ina Shirogu. “I found some amazing dresses and tops that will be perfect for work.”
Plans are already being discussed for next year’s Swap & Shop event, which is expected to be held in Arthrex One and include men’s clothing.
“Our goal for next year is to raise a total of $10,000,” Meg said.
Thank you to the Arthrex Women’s Network and to all the teams and individuals who contributed to the success of this event.
