ACL injuries continue to rise among youth athletes as sports become more competitive and physically demanding. Harder playing surfaces, increased game schedules and year‑round training are placing greater stress on young athletes’ knees, contributing to a higher risk of ligament injuries.
In a recent segment on TV20 Detroit (WMYD), Kyle Anderson, MD, of Anderson Sports Medicine discussed how innovations in ACL surgery are helping athletes return to play with greater confidence. Dr. Anderson highlighted the Arthrex InternalBrace™ technique, describing it as a “seatbelt” to help support the ACL graft during early phases of recovery.
“I think of this as a major support to a typical ACL reconstruction where we might use similar grafts and similar methods, but now we have added protection with the InternalBrace [technique],” said Dr. Anderson.
