Loriet Cruz Blends Relaxation and Adventure in Cancún on Her Arthrex Trip of a Lifetime

For her 15-year Trip of a Lifetime, QMS Training Specialist Loriet Cruz and her husband sought a peaceful getaway with a touch of adventure, and they already knew they wanted to return to the Riviera Maya in Mexico.

Riviera Maya, once known as the Cancún - Tulum Corridor, offers a blend of relaxing and exploratory activities, stunning natural beauty, mouthwatering foods and affordable, all-inclusive prices, and it’s all close to the U.S.

The couple first discovered this picturesque area when Loriet’s close colleague, Molding Tech Engineer Humberto Ferrera, enticed them to visit Isla Mujeres in 2013.

“Every visit to this paradise exceeds our expectations, and we always return with even more activities to cross off our bucket list,” said Loriet.

While looking for a hotel, Google reviews highlighted the all-inclusive Hyatt Zilara, which catered exclusively to adults, making it a sophisticated and tranquil escape. It was also centrally located near Playa de Carmen.

“This was perfect for exploring the region’s natural beauty because we didn’t need to travel very far to do excursions since most tours left from Playa del Carmen,” she said.

For seven days, Loriet and her husband enjoyed the hotel’s full-service spa, relaxed at the beach, and dined at gourmet restaurants serving international cuisines and healthy food alternatives. They also went on day excursions throughout the week, exploring the region’s many natural wonders.

Ziplining over the jungle canopy provided an adrenaline-pumping experience.

“As we soared through the air, we were surrounded by the breathtaking views of the green jungle under us. I never thought I would enjoy the heights and adrenaline so much.”

On a day trip to El Cielo, which translates to “Sky” or “Heaven,” they were stunned by the calm crystal waters, white sandy beach and bright red starfish. In Cozumel, El Cielo is considered the best snorkeling destination on the island, only accessible by boat.

But nothing could compare to the awe-inspiring experience of descending into the underwater realm while snorkeling.

At Yal-Kú Lagoon, the couple encountered “a stunning array of vibrant and colorful fish” thriving in their natural habitats. The underground cenote revealed a tranquil and otherworldly ambiance.

“It was genuinely magical and calming,” said Loriet.

The trip was also a great chance for Loriet and her husband to celebrate their belated 23rd wedding anniversary with a special dining experience at a Japanese steakhouse. They enjoyed a delightful evening filled with mouthwatering foods.

“My husband was over the moon with his juicy and flavorful Tomahawk steak, which was cooked to perfection,” she said. “As for me, I savored every bite of my tasty Teppanyaki meal.”

During the meal, the couple discussed their plans for her next Trip of a Lifetime. While they want to explore the region further south, close to the Tulum area, Loriet recognized that they might not wait that long to explore more.

“I want to express my appreciation for Arthrex’s unwavering dedication to enhancing the quality of people’s lives,” Loriet remarked. “The company has provided me with a support system, financial stability and many great personal development opportunities. I am grateful for the Trips of a Lifetime and the many other ways that Arthrex has encouraged me to focus on personal well-being.”
