Southwest Florida NBC affiliate WBBH recently went behind the scenes to explore how the Arthrex NanoNeedle Scope System is helping to address the national IV fluid shortage.
"Cancelled surgeries have been a problem for patients around the country, but Arthrex has been several steps ahead,” NBC2 anchor Lisa Spooner reported in her coverage.
The shortage, worsened by flooding at a North Carolina factory that produced 60% of the nation’s IV fluids, has disrupted many medical procedures. However, NanoNeedle technology enables surgeons to perform less invasive procedures with reduced saline.
Patients like Stacy Hall, who underwent successful surgery using this technology, have reported minimal swelling and faster healing. Brian Wallace, DO (Naples, FL), used the NanoNeedle in Hall’s procedure and explained that by using smaller instruments and less fluid, patients can recover more quickly and with less discomfort.
