Denver 7
Level 10 gymnast and Arthrex Athlete Charlotte Holmberg shared her inspiring comeback story with ABC affiliate Denver7 after suffering a devastating ACL tear, just four months before the start of the college recruiting process.
As Denver7 Sports Anchor Nick Rothschild reported, Charlotte began gymnastics at just 18 months old and never looked back, so when the injury threatened her dream, quitting wasn’t an option.
Under the care of orthopedic surgeon Rachel M. Frank, MD (Denver, CO), Charlotte’s ACL was reconstructed using her own quadriceps tendon. To further improve knee stability and reduce the risk of retearing, Dr. Frank also performed a lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) and used the InternalBrace™ technique.
