Brody Malone is officially heading to Paris for the 2024 men’s U.S. Olympic gymnastics team after overcoming a major hurdle on his road to the games.
In 2023, Malone suffered a multi-ligament knee injury during a botched dismount on the high bars, leaving him with a torn meniscus, tibial plateau fracture, partially torn posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and fully torn lateral collateral ligament (LCL). Three surgeries, weeks of bedrest and several months of rehabilitation later, he was back on the road to proving he could compete with top gymnasts in the world.
The 24-year-old Stanford University graduate recently competed in the U.S. Olympic team trials in Minneapolis to qualify for this year’s men’s team, during which NBC Sports shared an Arthrex animation to help educate viewers on Malone’s injury and recovery.
