As part of Arthrex’s culture and core value of Making People Better, and in recognition of National Volunteer Month in April, the company hosted 34 local organizations and more than 250 employees for the first Arthrex Volunteer Showcase.
The two-day event, which took place on Arthrex’s Naples campus, allowed employees to meet with local nonprofits and learn more about their missions, explore current volunteer and team-building opportunities, and discover how volunteering can make a meaningful impact on the community.
“Through volunteerism, we build connections, foster empathy and can make a positive difference in the lives of others,” said Arthrex Corporate Giving and Family Office Operations Manager Suzanne Pahl-Boland, who helped develop this first-time event.
Grace Place, a long-standing volunteer partner with Arthrex, providing programs which foster education and literacy that empower children and families to build a stronger community for the next generation, participated in the showcase.
“Arthrex employees have made such an amazing impact at Grace Place by the sheer fact that they’re willing to do anything and everything that we need, and that plays a huge part in ensuring our campus is always clean and ready for students,” said Grace Place Volunteering and Internal Events Manager Melisa Mast.
Another organization that tabled at the event, Fun Time Early Childhood Academy, is a nonprofit dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality early learning for underserved children.
“Our kids come from families who are working all day, so when our volunteers come in for one-on-one time, we can really see the impact that has on them,” said Fun Time Early Childhood Academy Events Coordinator Sophia Davisson. “Any extra help we can get is essential for giving our kids a good environment for learning and socializing.”
Arthrex’s Volunteer PTO program provides all employees with one paid day per calendar year to volunteer with a qualified 501(c)(3) organization.
“Our Volunteer PTO program encourages each of us to give back in meaningful ways,” said Senior Product Manager Julia Cuny, who is an avid community volunteer outside of her role at Arthrex. “The showcase played an important role in highlighting new opportunities and helping employees engage, connect and make a lasting difference in our communities.”
