Arthrex’s MOSAIC Network Hosts Language Exchange Event

The Arthrex MOSAIC Network recently celebrated the idea of “One World, One Team” by hosting its first ever language exchange event.

The event was organized by Creative Solutions Specialist Eliana Borda, Principal Product Development Engineer Martin Masson and Senior Business Systems Analyst – Digital Customer Experience Marielis Pernia.

Designed to foster diversity through communication, the agenda included group discussions, connecting employees who share a native tongue or who wanted to brush up on a second (or, in some cases, a third, fourth or fifth) language.

Attendees also discussed using English as a second language at work and shared personal stories of both the challenges and joys of multilingualism.

“Hearing everyone’s stories highlighted the diversity and resilience of those in attendance,” said Learning and Development Specialist Associate Rebecca Zapata.

Nearly 20 languages were represented at the event: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Polish, Japanese, Czech, Hindi, Mandarin, Italian, Korean, Ukrainian, Russian, Creole, Hebrew and English.

“By providing a space for everyone to be themselves, speak freely and make mistakes, the organizers created a sense of belonging,” said Marketing Continuous Improvement Specialist Senior Ricky Guest. “This event served as a fun and engaging way to network and make new friends.”

“This meeting, which we plan to host again in the future, was a great opportunity to connect, encourage and support each other,” Eliana said. “This was just another means of supporting our Arthrex family culture.”
