When Product Marketing Associate Olivia (Livi) Grissinger landed a job on the Imaging & Resection team at Arthrex, it was a dream come true.
“I graduated on May 4, 2025, and started work the next day,” Livi said. “I networked for two years during college. I was determined because I loved what Arthrex is doing. If it took two years or five, I wasn’t going to give up. It’s not so much a position as a passion.”
That devotion started at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) where Livi majored in Entrepreneurship. She discovered Arthrex through the medical device sales class she took there.
“I was so lucky,” Livi said. “It was an elective class, but it unlocked my dream career at this company.”
When Imaging & Resection Senior Product Marketing Manager Jacquelyn (Jax) Metcalf first met Livi, she couldn’t believe her luck.
“I called her and I was so impressed,” Jax said. “I was hiring to fill an entry level position and Livi was so professional and polished. We had probably reviewed 800 resumes. I asked my team, ‘Where has this young woman been hiding?’”
As part of the interview process, Jax asked Livi to present a marketing plan on a product.
“I told her, if you like a challenge, pick Cancer Illumination,” Jax said. “Livi picked that and she nailed that presentation.”
As an employee, Livi has continued to impress with her polish and work ethic.
“By month one, we learned that she was capable of taking on projects we normally wouldn’t have entrusted a new employee with for at least a year,” Jax said. “She jumped right in and took the lead on many different projects. She always wants to do more.”
Within a few months of working at Arthrex, Livi received an invitation from FGCU to apply for one of its highest alumni awards – the Soaring Eagle award. The award recognizes graduates who are making an impact and FGCU presents one each year to an alumnus in each of its seven colleges.
Livi had impressed her Arthrex team so much that Senior Director of Resection and Fluid Management Michael Cottle wrote her a glowing letter of recommendation for the award.
“She has made such an impact already,” Michael said. “Her initiative, her intelligence, her attention to detail. Livi always exceeds my expectations.”
That support helped earn Livi the 2026 Soaring Eagle award for the College of Entrepreneurship. At just 21 years old, she is the youngest recipient ever of that award.
“I am not surprised,” Michael said. “She has a presence and a maturity beyond her age. Combined with her infectious positive attitude, her potential is really limitless.”
Livi’s entire team attended the FGCU awards ceremony to support her.
“I feel so encouraged by my team and I am excited to come to work every day,” Livi said. “I am humbled by this award and the opportunities I have been given. I want to grow here, and I fully intend to work at Arthrex for my entire career.”
And that’s exactly what Jax and the rest of the team are hoping for.
“She blew us out of the water from the first interview,” Jax said. “I am excited to see how Livi will continue to impact this company in the years to come.”
