Southwest Florida news station Gulf Coast News recently explored how surgeons at NCH Rooney Heart Institute are using the Arthrex Synergy Exoscope with indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence imaging to visualize blood flow during cardiac bypass surgery in real time.

When used with the Synergy Exoscope, the ICG technology provides surgeons an enhanced view of blood flow through bypass grafts while a procedure is underway. This advancement in surgical visualization gives surgeons additional information that can help support surgical decision-making and precision in the operating room.

"Now we’re recording in high definition with a camera that’s small and not really in the way of the surgeon," said Brian Solomon, MD, a cardiothoracic surgeon at NCH.

The procedure featured in the story marks the first live-patient case performed using the Synergy Exoscope, which was launched in January 2026 as part of the Arthrex Synergy portfolio.
